Education
The Key to the Future
Education of our children is our #1 Priority.
Education transcends every aspect of our program from home work
assistance, mentoring, tutoring, life skills, travel exploration, to
our country store. Every student is positoned to gain valuable
academic knowledge and skills to help them become productive
and contributing members of society capable of proper decision
making and
behavior. We also work to sharpen their communication, social and life
mangement skills.
Our program works to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each
learner and establishes a people driven support system to help them
achieve goals and to overcome deficiencies. Unlike other programs,
students remain in our program long enough to achieve their educational
goals which is evidenced by our large number of high school graduates
and beyond.
All children are evaluated and tutored using
the Odyssey Ware Diagnostic Software Program.

Mentoring
Mentors Rock!
Our mentors contribute to the success of our program by giving kids a
positive “friend” and role model they can trust!
Mentoring is offered to each student who has an absent or
dis-engaged parent. Mentors work one-on-one with the student to help
them broaden their view of the world and to challenge them to be the
“best” they can be. They become the cheerleaders of the
children they serve while Solid Foundation provides a supportive and
positive learning environment for each student to learn and thrive.
Tutoring
You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to be a tutor. All
you need is a heart for children and a good basic
education.
Some of our best tutors are just ordinary people with average reading,
writing and arithmetic skills. Our tutors work one-on-one with our
students to ensure they master every subject and homework
assignment. Tutors commit to one hour per night two nights
a week. We actively recruit teacher’s, professors, and
community business leaders to join us in giving back and helping to
re-shape the future of one child. At the end of the day, we all get the
opportunity to “toot” our horn at the grades that go off
the charts... These are the future parents, mothers, fathers,
teachers, doctors, lawyers, politicians, principals of
America!
Life
Skills
Solid Foundation partners with community based organizations,
business owners, and professionals to incorporate life skills
programming into our curriculum. From teen pregnancy and prevention,
drug awareness, gang violence prevention and avoidance of other high
risk behaviors. Financial fitness including managing a savings account,
budgeting, identity theft are just a few issues covered in this phase
of our programming. Job readiness and emerging careers are also taught
during our summers. Our objective is to develop confident and
knowledgeable students with strong core beliefs and coping skills who
can function in their family, school and beyond.
Cultural
Enrichment
Summers are Sizzling at Solid Foundation!
Learn more about cultural Enrichment Programs………
During our summers we offer a multi-disciplinary incentive program
including shadowing, camp experiences, travel exploration and arts
program to the youth who participate in the program year long.
Shadowing: Students
are matched to a community leader/professional to spend a day in
their shoes. From a television station to doctors offices
-- this has been one of our most celebrated tracts.
Students receive a real world experience in a field of special interest
to them.
Travel:
Each summer, select students are chosen to experience the history,
beauty and culture of a unique destination. Destinations vary from year
to year, to date we have toured Washington, D.C., New York,
Atlanta, San Antonio, Galveston and Austin, TX. These trips
are made possible through donations, fundraisers and sponsorships.
Camp:
Students are selected based on their grades and conduct to
participate in a week long camping experience. These may include Kids
Across America, The Gloria Russell Camps, and others. Students
return charged up and ready to re-enter school with new goals and
commitment to achievement and self improvement.
Arts: This
new incentive program will allow students to become involved in a full
scale stage production emphazing team building, language skills,
competition, poise and self expression. Students design sets and
costumes themselves.
